Thank you SJSU alumni, David, for hosting us!
In February, HFES hosted a professor panel to give students a chance to better understand the specialties of different professors and empower students to choose an advisor with similar interest for their thesis.
Students also visited the Human Factors and Ergonomics Lab to see all the resources available to them to complete their thesis/project.
Thank you to all the professors that came and spoke with students about their interests!

This year the HFES International Conference was held in Austin and we had 29 of our student members attend!
On Tuesday we had a Faculty, Students, and Alumni Lunch at Manuel’s. There was an interactive poster session on Tuesday night where students presented their posters and answered questions to interested members. On Wednesday, our very own Mary presented with her research partner, Katherine, on gamifying wearable devices in healthcare. On Thursday, Tricia gave a presentation on Personality Measurement and Design in Human Robot Interaction. Also, our faculty advisor, Dr. Dan Nathan Roberts was a part of a speaker’s panel about creating safer and more effective mobile access in healthcare.
SJSU members were invited to Oracle’s campus to participate in a design thinking workshop where students worked together in groups to complete a design challenge. There was also a speaker panel combined of UX researchers, designers, and project managers that explained their day to day and gave answered questions from aspiring students.
Thank you Oracle for hosting SJSU HFES!
