This year the HFES International Conference was held in Austin and we had 29 of our student members attend!
On Tuesday we had a Faculty, Students, and Alumni Lunch at Manuel’s. There was an interactive poster session on Tuesday night where students presented their posters and answered questions to interested members. On Wednesday, our very own Mary presented with her research partner, Katherine, on gamifying wearable devices in healthcare. On Thursday, Tricia gave a presentation on Personality Measurement and Design in Human Robot Interaction. Also, our faculty advisor, Dr. Dan Nathan Roberts was a part of a speaker’s panel about creating safer and more effective mobile access in healthcare.

SJSU members were invited to Oracle’s campus to participate in a design thinking workshop where students worked together in groups to complete a design challenge. There was also a speaker panel combined of UX researchers, designers, and project managers that explained their day to day and gave answered questions from aspiring students.
Thank you Oracle for hosting SJSU HFES!
SJSU HFES was invited to Facebook to check out their campus and learn about the user experience research process. Students had the opportunity to check out the campus, learn about different research methods, and ask Facebook researchers questions about some of the interesting research questions they tackle at Facebook.
Thank you so much Tiffany for hosting SJSU HFES at Facebook!
The award-winning SJSU HFES chapter is looking for student ambassadors that can help continue our legacy. We want someone that is passionate about their own success and the success of others!
As an ambassador, you will have the benefit of:
– being the liaison between 1st and 2nd years,
– a brand ambassador for SJSU HFES outreach
– meeting and connecting with companies, student organizations, and faculty
Any SJSU HFES member can apply (so don’t be shy ^—^)
